Die perfekte Farbpalette

Here are a few secrets to choosing the perfect color palette for your next knitting project.

Choosing a color palette for your next sweater or scarf can be a stressful task. Even though you may have a few favorite colors that you usually go for, it's always a good idea to try new combinations and knit something new.

Here are some points to consider when creating harmonious color palettes.

With a little patience, you'll find a color palette that you like. If you're not sure which color to choose, consider these tips before deciding on a combination.

  1. Look in your closet.
You probably already have a favorite color palette. The clothes in my closet are one of my favorite colors, while I decorate and accessorize in a different color palette. Look around your home and note the colors you like and the missing colors you would like to use.
  1. Have fun creating a Pinterest board for your next project. Start by uploading some of the items from tip 1, then add anything that catches your eye. Don't just limit yourself to knitwear - add anything that you like. You can find inspiration in many places, even in the countryside.
  2. Feel the colors.
If you have too many colors to choose from and you can't decide, stop and ask yourself, "How do I want to feel when I interact with this piece?" Do you want it to be sporty, elegant, fun, understated, or something else entirely? Decide how you want the finished piece to make you feel and how you will wear it to make the best decision.
  1. Try a color palette generator.
Color palette generators like Coolors, Pantone, Canva and Color Hunt are full of inspiration. Create a color palette based on an image and play around to create different color palettes. You might discover combinations you hadn't thought of before.
  2. Decide based on the main colors.
Another popular method is to choose 1 or 2 main colors that you want in your project. Then choose a neutral color that matches them, and then another neutral color that contrasts. This way you quickly get a palette that you can't go wrong with.
