Peru trip 2019

By Fiorella Cruz  •   2 minute read

Perureise 2019
We have visited our manufacturer in South America again for you and are now reporting a little about the 2019 trip to Peru. The travel time is always very long, it takes 15 hours to get to Lima and then another 2 hours to the city of Arequipa. Arequipa is the capital of the region of the same name and has almost 800,000 inhabitants. It lies at an altitude of 2,335 meters above sea level.

The aim was to make a new film about our production on site and the alpacas. For this we hired a professional television team from Peru. In recent days we also shot footage at the manufacturer of our blankets and at our alpaca knitting wool manufacturer. It is always unbelievable how much time such a video production takes. Weeks of production are needed for just a few minutes of film.

Since it is currently rainy season in Peru, we have agreed to postpone the filming of the farm and the farmers until June. This year we are using a drone for the first time, which will allow us to take impressive bird's eye views. We have also set ourselves the goal of recording every step of production so that you can get a precise idea of how complex our knitting wool is produced.

The jump into the wool bath
A highlight for me was a jump. I had the pleasure of jumping into a pile of alpaca wool for the first time. It was a great but hairy experience.

Alpacas are still very special and interesting animals for us, as each animal has its own character and you always want to cuddle them. I still fondly remember an alpaca that I met on the farm 4 years ago, whose protruding tooth and facial expressions were so unusual and funny that there is certainly no other like it in the world.

We will report more in June 2019 when we start the second part of our trip to Peru to visit the farm.
